New Delhi: India continued their batting revolution in the T20 Internationals on Saturday as they posted 219/5 in the second T20I against Zimbabwe, equaling their own world record of batting over 200 in a year.The 219 runs was the ninth time India scored 200-plus runs in T20Is in 2026, equaling their record set in 2024. No other official member nation has managed more than six wickets in a calendar year, underlining India’s continued dominance in the shortest format of the game with the bat.More strikingly, India have crossed the 200-run mark 52 times in T20Is, continuing their all-time record. Second-placed South Africa have managed the feat just 29 times, underscoring the gap between India and the rest of the cricketing world in sustaining huge totals.

India’s amazing consistency is reflected in the list of all-time scorers who have scored more than 200 runs in every year.They first set the benchmark with nine such points in 2024 and have now matched that in 2026. His leg-side knock proved to be devastating, with Zimbabwe’s bowlers punished in the mid-wicket region on several occasions.Tilak perfectly complemented his performance with an unbeaten 60 off 29 balls, putting to rest the recent discussion about his strike rate. The southpaw reached his 50 in just 23 deliveries, blending graceful placement with clean power shots.The duo put on 61 runs in the last five overs for India, taking the visitors to an impressive 219/5.Tilak, speaking during the inter-innings break, praised Kishan for setting the tone.“We feel that scores around 200 are very good scores here. But when you think of 200, obviously the score can go up to 220, especially the way Ishan is batting. It was really cool to watch,” Tilak said.The 23-year-old also revealed that conversations with head coach Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman prompted him to focus more on scoring on the ground instead of just relying on shots in the air.“I have been discussing with Gautam sir and now with Laxman sir about finding the gap. If you hit the ball well, your consistency improves.
