It’s been over two decades since one of Bollywood’s finest, Muhammad Ali, left for a heavenly abode. Marking the death anniversary of the great artist, his nephew Akaar Ali said: “It has been 22 years since his death, but his spirit will always live on. I was 10 years old at the time. Akal Ali shares his fondest memories of late uncle Muhammad Ali
Akar further shared in an exclusive interview with us, “I have clear memories of his farewell day at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. My father Anwar Ali played a dual role in his brother’s life as the youngest sibling and his best friend. Both relationships were fraught with emotions and responsibilities.” I witnessed many of these encounters between them and it was ironically childlike. Through observation, I can connect.“Ali continued, revealing a specific memory of when Muhammad came from the United States and brought him a special gift. “It was his HEAD wooden tennis racket, a vintage racket that was almost 20 years old. At the time, I was on tour and playing professional lawn tennis. When I look back, my heart is filled with gratitude because he inspired my passion for the sport and continues to do so now through movies,” Akar recalls.

Like millions of Muhammad fans, Akal Ali enjoys watching his uncle’s work on screen. He said, “His performances are so unpredictable that you better believe you’ll be on the edge of your seat. My friends and I loved ‘Bombay to Goa’ the most because it took us into a world of our own.”““Even today, it’s the sweetest escape. You pass through the camera and become a passenger on the bus. It’s an unforgettable journey and for me, it’s very special. Whether it’s a frame or an entire film, he leaves his mark. His performances always add value to the entire film. Our conversation ends with how Akal Ali plans to carry on his uncle’s legacy. He shared a very healthy answer: “Bade Chacha The legacy is unparalleled; it doesn’t need me. ““Through my efforts, I will carve my own path. Bhaijaan was, is and always will be. Being the son of Anwar and Mona has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My parents are a source of gratitude for me. We have each other through the ups and downs; through those who are here and those who continue to live on in spirit. Bhaijaan’s legacy is a teacher to me and many others.” I feel His presence through love, joy and devotion,” he concluded.
